WHAT IS BOTOX®?
Botox® is actually a highly purified neurotoxin, which is refined from the Clostridium botulinum, manufactured by the Allergan corporation. Working with an organization like Allergan, whose mission is to provide the most effective and safe products, allows Chic la Vie Med Spa to provide our clients only the safest Botox injections wihout any concerns on quality.
HOW DOES BOTOX® WORK?
The process of injecting Botox® into the skin helps to block nerve signals to the muscles. When injected into the muscles in the forehead and face, they are limited to how much they can contract, causing the wrinkles to relax and soften. Skilled and experienced injectors know where and how to inject into the muscles for optimum results and a natural, smoother outcome.
HOW DO WRINKLES FORM?
There is no getting around it, we all age, and with that comes changes in our skin. And, having healthy younger looking skin can truly make a difference in a person’s appearance, self-esteem and happiness.
As we age, we can start to experience the tell-tale signs of the changes in our skin, including wrinkles, fine lines, dark spots and pigmentation issues.
There can be many causes of wrinkles and other unwanted skin conditions, including:
- Excessive exposure to the Sun
- Loss of Collagen
- Production of less Sebum (oil)
- Natural decline in blood vessels – less circulation
- Loss of subcutaneous tissue, making the skin thinner
- Repeated facial expressions
- Sleeping positions
- Environmental Issues – Pollution
WHAT ARE CROWS FEET?
Those unwanted and slightly lines and wrinkles that develop around the eyes from smiling, squinting and laughing are often referred to as Crows Feet. For non-surgical treatment of crow’s feet, specialists inject three regions in the orbicularis oculi, the muscle that frames the side of the eye.
Because Botox® temporarily reduces the activity in the muscle, the effect is a reduction in the appearance of those lines that cause the crow’s feet.
Although Botox® is primarily used to reduce skin wrinkles by relaxing the underlying muscles, it can also be used to create a lifting effect. There are two groups of muscles on the face that have opposite effects – the ones that pull the skin down (depressors) and those that pull it up (levators). By preferentially blocking the depressor muscles trained and experienced injectors can help lift the skin for a more improved appearance.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY PROCEDURE?
Our experienced medical team will inject the Botox® into the muscles of your forehead based on the areas you are trying to improve upon; into the frontalis for the horizontal lines and / or into the procerus for the lines between the eyebrows, depending on your goals and needs.
Our medical staff will assess your current status, and will ask you to frown and make other facial movements so they can identify the best areas to inject the Botox® for the most natural and optimal results.
Patients will begin to see visible reductions in wrinkles and fine lines following the injecting of Botox® into the muscles within a few days.

One of the additional benefits of using Botox® is its ability to safely treat of various medical conditions, such as hyperhidrosis, also known as excessive sweating, as well as treating migraine headaches, facial acne, back pain, stroke-related muscle contractures, blepharospasms, and depression.
